Yesterday morning (9.15.17) there were 2 SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPERS at Channel Drive in Skagit County. This was about 10AM. Low tide (-0.3) was about 7:30AM. Channel Drive is off of Downey Rd, south of the intersection of Hwy 20 and Laconner Whitney Rd. Park where the dirt road crosses the culverts, before the gate. Please, please respect private property. Also at Channel Drive:

Short-billed Dowitcher - juv
Least Sandpiper
Western Sandpiper
Semipalmated Sandpiper - 1
Black Merlin



My next stop was Semiahmoo, Whatcom County. The ongoing BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER flock of about 1,000 birds arrived at about noon. High tide was about 3:30PM. In addition to the plovers the flock contained:


Short-billed Dowitcher - several juveniles
Dunlin - 1
Hudsonian Godwit - 1 juv
Marbled Godwit - 3
Willet - 1
Western Sandpiper - 50 or more
