Today Paul Baerny, Garrett Haynes, and I headed over to Othello in hopes of
finding Tricolored Blackbirds and Long-billed Curlews. Despite the
forecast, the wind was minimal and the skies were clear.

Lyons Rd
- A lone Rough-legged Hawk was perched on the ground before flying up into
a snag for good looks.
- 3 Long-billed Curlews were flushed by the RLHA.

Ginkgo Petrified Forest
- 2 Peregrine Falcons flew over vocalizing and harassing each other, our
first time hearing them.

Winchester Rest Area Sewage Ponds
- 2 Black-necked Stilts were foraging along the edge of the water.

Dodson Rd
- A ruffled dark adult Swainson's Hawk was sitting on utility pole.
- Northern Shrike.

Para Ponds
- At least 4 Tricolored Blackbirds with a mix of cowbirds, RWBL, and YHBLs.
- 2 more Swainson's Hawks around the area.

The pair of Burrowing Owls are still near Othello.

Rocky Ford
- We missed the night-herons and the Sora but we did get views of a
Virginia Rail.
- Nice numbers Cliff and a few Northern Rough-winged Swallows were darting
around the pond.

Soap Lake
- 2 beautiful breeding plumaged Eared Grebes.
- Distant views of an early American Avocet foraging along the W edge of

Umptanum Rd: We made a quick stop to get year bird Western Bluebird.
- Great-horned Owl nest seen a little ways before the turn off to Durr. Rd.

For the day, ~82 species.
