Thanks to Randy Hill for forwarding on the post about GWFG moving through
from the Portland listserv. I must have tucked it away in my subconscious
because as I was standing out on my deck earlier this evening it came
popping into my head as I absentmindedly tried to place the distant sound I
was hearing. I looked up and found a flock of about 40 Greater
White-Fronted Geese flying north-northwest a few thousand feet up. A group
of 4 Cackling Geese were right behind them.

Despite getting thousands of Canada, Cackling, and Snow Geese over the
house each fall, this is only the second sighting of GWFG I've had here. I
believe its also the only large flock of this species I've ever seen as
well.

Despite mediocre weather and a migration that seems to really be lagging
behind I managed to get 61 species around the yard for the day, a new high
count. I wish April would last all year long.
