Hi Tweets....
Sharon and Stan were joined by 7 other birders on August 3, 2018 for Eastside Audubon's monthly bird walk at Lake Sammamish State Park. Weather was cloudy with sun breaks later in the morning, 57-63F, 1-3 mph winds. The species count was 59, 128 for the year.

HIGHLIGHTS:
**A single Red-necked Grebe at Sunset Beach
**A Caspian Tern, too
**A Dowitcher species probbing the mud at the mouth of Issaquah Creek
**Could it be that today we saw the same female Common Merganser that we watched last month leading a string of tiny Merganser-lings.....this time, the 7 young birds are nearly her size now? How to know for certain, but fun to imagine!
**At least one Spotted Sandpiper sans spots was still bopping around a sandbar along Issaquah Creek
**A brief fly through Cooper's Hawk
**Still both Anna's & Rufous Hummingbirds
**One sighting of a juvenile or a molting Red-breasted Sapsucker, and 3 of the other 5 expected woodpeckers (Hairy, Downey, Northern Flicker....missed Pileated)
**Two vireo species....both the Red-eyed and the Warbling Vireos were still singing in the Old Orchard
**Also, had a few brief sightings of at least one Pacific-slope Flycatcher. Still many vocalizing Pewees, and a couple Willow Flycatchers about
**6 warblers today...Orange-crowned, Common Yellowthroat, Yellow, Yellow-rumped, Black-throated Gray, and Wilson's
** a female-type Bullock's Oriole

The next bird walk is SEPTEMBER 5, 2018, 8am to noon. This is a state park and a Discover Pass is required to park here ($35 annual or $10 daily).
