The University of Washington notified us earlier this year that Tweeters was way overlimit in the size of the archives, and that it would soon be necessary to scrub a substantial number of older messages to get us back under the limit and allow growth for future years.

These archives provide a unique historical record of the Washington birding community back to the early 1994, when Tweeters debuted on the University of Washington listserv, and are consulted regularly by record keepers as well as by birders in general. Land-use planners, biologists from various agencies and organizations, educators, journalists and conservationists also find them valuable. We were anxious to find a way to preserve this resource in such a way that it would continue to be readily accessible.

We are pleased, and grateful, to be able to report that the Washington Ornithological Society (WOS) has generously undertaken to establish and maintain a new website for the purpose of hosting the historical Tweeters archives. As of today you may browse and search more than 150,000 emails from 1994 to 2017 at this address :
