Tweets,

Today 25 of us enjoyed a productive, if somewhat smokey, walk at
Nisqually. The birds were pretty active early and the smog wasn't too
bad. We had an 11.9 high tide at 9:01 so there was lots of mud to be
seen.

Highlights (for me) included a couple of sightings of BLACK-THROATED
GRAY WARBLERS, a couple of NORTHERN HARRIERS, and lots of migrating
shorebirds, including SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, WESTERN SANDPIPERS and
DOWITCHERS, probably LONG-BILLED.

The BLACK-THROATED GRAYS included a male seen near the gate to the
maintenance road across from the orchard and later I saw a female near
the beaver dam.

The shorebirds were well out in the reclamation area and along
McAllister Creek. The NORTHERN HARRIERS were the first of the season
as they are haying the fields to prepare for wintering waterfowl.

For the day I had 43 species and now have 114 for the year. Shep will
have an ebird report including sightings along the estuary boardwalk.

Mammals seen included COTTONTAILED RABBIT, CHIPMONK and COYOTE.

Until next week...
