Spencer Hildie and I had a good day in Discovery Park today. Best was almost first, when I nearly yelled Black-and-white Warbler as we watched a mixed flock near the sand patch in the south meadow. We'd been watching Black-throated Grays, so had good comparison during the brief time this one foraged on trunks and major vertical limbs. And I'd just seen a few while volunteering in the Yucatan peninsula the last few weeks, so perhaps wasn't as shocked as I should have been. Spencer may have a few photo's to back us up. There were lots of migrants in the park, including a half dozen warbler species, four or five flycatcher species, three vireo species, tanagers, Black-headed Grosbeak, Swainson's Thrush, two Black Swifts, a couple of Northern Harriers, three Common Loons, Least and Western Sandpipers. Plus some porpoise, seals, river otters, Pacific chorus frogs, and a garter snake.

As the smoke arrived, we decided to look at T-107 and Herring House on the Duwamish. We saw lots of the same sandpipers, Caspian Terns, and Purple Martins, but nothing new beyond Spotted Sandpiper and Common Merganser.
