Actually the first meeting took place at the old Seattle Audubon Society
office in the Joshua Green Building in downtown Seattle. This was on 25
July 1988. At this meeting we came up with the working name for our group
as the WA Birding Society. Three weeks later on 18 August we meet at the
Burke to sign and release the public letter announcing the group's
formation. Dennis Paulson had changed the name of the group to the WA
Ornithological Society and we agreed to it. And thus WOS began.
