Subject: [Tweeters] Positive West Nile Virus in Gog-le-hi- te sampling from Washington DOH
Date: Tue Aug 28 14:19:31 PDT 2018
From: Laurel Parshall - knasnan at gmail.com

I work at the local health department, Tacoma-Pierce, and we just got the
news from the state department of health. Mosquito samples taken 8/14/18
came back positive. First detection of virus west of the Cascades.
Gog-le-hi-te is the only sampling site in Pierce County for 2018. More
sites will be determined for additional sampling, at least on a short term
basis due to the positive results. Wear your repellent and work on bite
prevention when you are out birding this migration season! You can find
more information on the health department website at
https://tpchd.org/healthypeople/diseases/west-nile-virus.
Good and safe birding, everyone!
