Keith Brady and I found the Painted Redstart on the Cape Flattery trail around 10:15 this morning.  Hanging with small GCKI flock about 40 feet up moving between firs and cedars.
Location was about 50 yards down trail from first overlook to left of trail.  About 150 yards up trail from picnic tables. We first heard distinctive two note call (seemed like 1.5 notes).  Got fleeting looks if red, black and white bird larger than kinglets.  Flycatcher like activity.  Watched for maybe 10 minutes mostly saw movement only.  A couple of brief clear views.  Horrible photo in poor light.
About 15 minutes later we heard it singing twice.
Amazing!!
