Howdy y'all! I'm new here, having just subscribed, at Ellen B's kind suggestion, and I'm delighted and surprised to report that I saw a Red-headed Woodpecker on May 24 at my suet feeder in Bellingham, Washington. I was too paralyzed with excitement to grab my camera (otherwise known as iphone), but stood there and gawked for the full 2-3 minutes it was there. My view was close up and unobstructed, and I have zero doubt as to what it was, since I've long admired them in bird guides. What a great looking bird! I haven't seen him/her since, and don't much expect to, but I'm on the look-out. Woo hoo!
