Join ornithologist George Divoky at the annual Friends of Cooper Island

George's 43 years of research on Black Guillemots is the longest study of
any Arctic species. His data is a valuable resource for monitoring the
major changes occurring in the region and has received extensive coverage
in both the national and international media.



2017 was another alarmingly warm year in northern Alaska and a challenge
for the Black Guillemots breeding on Cooper Island. Come hear how the
continued warming is affecting the birds and the visiting polar bears - and
what the future might hold for the colony and our study in a rapidly
warming world.
