This last weekend I took a trip from Portland up to Othello Sandhill Crane Festival. On Sunday I co-lead a day trip to the Wahluke Slope with Randy Hill. No real rare birds here, but there were a few county ticks. :)

Saturday, 3/24: Portland to Othello

Mew Gull - mouth of the Klickitat River (Klickitat Co)
Red-breasted Merganser - Crow Butte Park (Benton Co)
Burrowing Owl - Foster Wells Rd north of Pasco (Franklin Co)
Greater White-fronted Goose (200 at Mesa Lake)
Snow Goose - 100s near Mesa Lake (Franklin Co)
Canvasback - Savage Island (Franklin Co)
Burrowing Owl - Lemaster Rd just east of Othello (Adams Co)

Sunday, 3/25: Wahluke Slope, around Othello

Long-billed Curlew - 5 on Reynolds Rd just south of Othello (Adams Co)
Sagebrush Sparrow - several on the Wahluke Slope (Grant Co)
Loggerhead Shrike - several on the Wahluke Slope
Chukar - 2 at Saddle Mountain overlook, Wahluke Slope
Ross's Goose - 1 at Royal Lake (presumed Adams Co)
Snow Goose - 3 at Para Ponds
Tricolored Blackbird - 6 at Para Ponds (Adams Co)

Monday 3/26: Othello to Portland

Harris's Sparrow - McNary Wildlife Area (Umatilla Co, Oregon)
(This park is on the Oregon side of the Columbia River, just across the I-82 bridge. It is likely the most reliable spot for wintering Harris's Sparrow in the Pacific Northwest)
