Hi Tweets,

About 7:00 PM this evening I saw an osprey land in a fir tree by one of the
ponds near my house in Thurston County. It stayed long enough for me to get
good looks with my binoculars and then took off after about a minute and
flew directly overhead at about 50'. No doubt what it was.

That got me to thinking. Is this a really early siting? I checked on E-bird
and saw that many western counties haven't seen one yet [Mason, Snohomish,
Skagit, Whatcom, Jefferson and Grays Harbor]. Many other counties have only
observed the FOY this week - [King 3-30; Cowlitz 3-30; Clark 3-29; Pacific
3-28; Lewis 3-25; Pierce 3-25; Thurston 3-23]. And then there's Clallam
with a bird in Sequim on January 28th.

Keep looking there may be many more arriving daily. Any comments about
historic early siting would be appreciated.
