Hi Tweeters,

I went birding with Scot Duncan yesterday at Three Forks Park (starting in
the dog off leash area) and the Stillwater Unit of the Snoqualmie Wildlife
Area, both located in the foothills of King County. Despite getting a late
start (after 2:00; I had to work, boo!) we still tallied perhaps 60
species. Here are a few highlights:

Three Forks Park; we birded along the river as well as the fields and did
some bushwhacking to follow up on bird calls:
(5) WESTERN WOOD PEWEE, (2) WILLOW FLYCATCHER, (1) HAMMOND FLYCATCHER, (3)
WARBLING VIREO, (2) RED-EYED VIREO!; 5 SWALLOW SPECIES (no Bank or Martin);
(9) SWAINSON'S THRUSH, (6) YELLOW WARBLER, (12) BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, (2)
LAZULI BUNTING, AND (4) BULLOCK'S ORIOLE.

Stillwater; a fairly brief stop:
( 2) WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE, (3) WILLOW FLYCATCHER, (1) HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER,
(1) RED-EYED VIREO, (2) PURPLE MARTIN (a pair that were nesting in a tall
snag despite the presence of several nesting Starlings. This was the first
time that I have seen them not nesting in a gourd), (4) SWAINSON'S THRUSH,
(2) WILSON'S WARBLER, (2) WESTERN TANAGER, (4) BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, and
(4) BULLOCK'S ORIOLE.
