Hope you have places to stay booked in Yellowstone. Our experience over the last decade is that a year in advance is not too soon if you are looking at more than a day or so at any one site. Teton is better.

Our experience in 'Stone is in September and the Lamar Valley is where to be. Open and lots to see. If you see a group stopped by the side of the road look at the optics. Expensive stuff means wolves or grizzly. Ask around about wolves as there is generally a pack that is observable from the roadside. Teton had less wildlife to see. Our best luck was on the loop that went up the Gros Ventre.
