Interesting - my husband and I oohed and aahed over a Mandarin Duck on the Thames River in Richmond, London about a week ago. A local ID'd it for us. Seems as if they are fairly common there.

Obviously, most are escapees but they do have the ability to go feral. Most breeders that I am aware of allow the female to incubate and raise the ducklings so there is a lot of nature in their nurture.
