> Yesterday we returned from a trip Eastern WA with Wenatchee as our base. The weather was sunny, but windy at times which reduced the birds seen. Here are our favorite birding spots from the trip.

>

> Cle Elum Cemetery: Once again this was a lively place, with birds that is, including two Mountain Chickadees in a flock of small birds.

> Sleeping Lady Resort (Leavenworth): We didn't find any White-headed Woodpeckers, but did get a close-up view of a Downy Woodpecker.

> National Fish Hatchery (Leavenworth): While we were standing at the water's edge below the spillway, an American Dipper swam quite close, apparently unaware of our presence.

> Swauk Prairie (Kittitas County): This is one of our favorite places with or without birds, but it usually is a productive birding location. This time we came across a Northern Shrike.

> On the road up to Swauk Prairie we had a close look at a Rough-legged Hawk.

> Beebe Springs Natural Area: We had never been to this area before which is located in Chelan County on Lake Entiat north of the Beebe Bridge. It was very windy so the birding wasn't great, but we loved the terrain and will return.

> Chelan Falls Park: On Lake Entiat south of the Beebe Bridge. The first day that we went it was very windy and we didn't even get out of the car. The next day the wind was reasonable and the birding was excellent including a close view of an American Kestrel.

> Wenatchee Confluence State Park & Walla Walla Point Park (both in Wenatchee): Found a large flock of geese (Canada, Cackling, Snow (10) & Greater White-fronted (1)).
