Hi all,
My boys and I enjoyed excellent waterfowl birding in North Whatcom County
today. About 1,000 SNOW GEESE continue on Wiser Lake. 600 TRUMPETER SWANs
can be found among the chopped cornstalks in the flats along the Nooksack
River, including 390 on Bylsma west of Hannegan Road and another 170 on
Nolte Road near Everson. A few TUNDRA SWAN scattered among them, especially
in the Bylsma flock. MALLARD, NORTHERN PINTAIL, AMERICAN WIGEON, NORTHERN
SHOVELER, GREEN-WINGED TEAL all seen in distant flooded field north of
River Road with an especially strong showing from the wigeons. Finally, as
I type, several hundred CANADA GEESE and CACKLING GEESE are flying overhead
in long and chaotic Vs.
