Subject: [Tweeters] Sunflower seed

A friend recently purchased a forty pound bag of sunflower seed for her
bird feeders. It is webby and small larvae (about 3/8") can be found
within, even a few moths. She is wondering if this is in any way
detrimental to the birds. Sounds unpalatable to we humans but it may
present the birds with a little extra protein!

Anyone else experience this condition? Any comments would be appreciated.

Happy birding and bird-feeding!
