Tweeters,
This morning, I followed up on Dalton Spencer's report from yesterday of a Redhead at Hillburger Pond in Chehalis, Lewis County.  I found 2 Redheads (a male and female) present, which were tightly paired during my 45 minutes of observation.  During this time, they didn't associate with any of the 11 Ring-necked Ducks also at the pond.  In addition, the pond held about 45 Gadwalls, 50 American Wigeon, 15 Mallards, 1 Northern Shoveler, and 5 Pied-billed Grebes.  Unfortunately, all the ducks were fairly skittish and a couple minutes after detecting me, most departed the pond when a bird scare device (?) let off several shots in succession.  Hopefully, the birds all eventually returned to the pond.
I then visited Alexander Park just west of Chehalis to look for a White-throated Sparrow that Dalton reported about a week ago.  I had no luck relocating it or the flock of Golden-crowned Sparrows that it was seen with.
Finally, I visited the Steam Plant northeast of Centralia and found an immature Snow Goose and 20 White-fronted Geese with two large flocks of Cackling and Canada Geese.  These were in the short green fields just east of the main Steam Plant facility.
