Hi,
My wife and I arrived at the Cape Flattery boardwalk area about 6:45am this morning. Almost immediately we heard the Redstart sing for about 5 minutes, but had no visuals. Over the next 4.5 hours, only my wife was able to satisfactorily view the elusive bird that was high up in the tree canopy at 10:20am for about 10 seconds which was then directly over the picnic benches. I only saw a fleeting silhouette of the flying bird...apparently playing hide-and-seek. During the morning, we roamed the entire lower boardwalk (and adjoining side trails) while hearing about a half dozen vocalizations. All of these came from the north side of the boardwalk.
Now that rain and a marine layer has dampened the area it also causes light conditions to decrease in the already dense tree canopy where the Redstart hangs out.
In rainy Neah Bay,
