Subject: [Tweeters] what's an "owl dog" and how can it help conserve an endangered owl?

Hello tweeties,

thought i'd share a story about a crowdfunding effort to pay to train a dog
that will be trained to sniff out pellets produced by the endangered masked
owl. this bird lives in rugged old growth forests of tasmania and needs
large nest hollows to successfully reproduce. due to the terrain and the
fact that this owl is strictly nocturnal, not much is known about it, so
the Difficult Birds Research Group is thinking outside the box in their
efforts to prevent this valuable predator's demise by training a
pellet-sniffing dog.

I hope you can spare some money -- every little bit helps! -- to help in
this creative and desperately-needed conservation effort. I've donated
USfunds to the Difficult Birds Research Group and it's actually quite easy
so that should not worry you.

cheers,
