Hi Tweets,

I wanted to share a few recent sightings, some of which haven't yet made it
to Tweeters. In the last few days, there have been a number of normally
pelagic species seen in Puget Sound. A quick summary:

Cassin's Auklet (Point Defiance and Chambers Bay, present for several
weeks?)
Sabine's Gull (Point Defiance, 9/16 and 9/17)
Long-tailed Jaeger (Point Defiance, 9/15, and Discovery Park, 9/16)
Leach's Storm-Petrel (Discovery Park, 9/14)
Sooty Shearwater (Discovery Park, 9/17)

At least around Seattle, this is in spite of relatively low numbers of more
regular inshore seabirds in the Sound. The appearance of several of these
species coincided with the weather system that arrived late last week.
It's a good time to be out seawatching!

Good birding,
Matt Dufort
