As I entered the Skagit Game Range (Wylie Slough) yesterday, a WESTERN MEADOWLARK was perched high atop a conifer. On the early side for that bird in Skagit Co. At about 1:00PM, a SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER appeared on one of the reedy "islands" as the tide was rising. There were also at least 10 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS at that time. And a single AMERICAN PIPIT. At about 5PM the sharp-tailed flew right and briefly perched on the exposed tree limbs at the end of the "pond". Then it flew on with dowitchers and yellowlegs, seemingly leaving the area. I believe there is a good chance this bird will remain for a few days. A pair of SANDHILL CRANES flew over a few minutes later.

I then visited the Hayton Reserve where a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE alternately walked the water's edge and swam along shore.
