Fourteen of us were treated to great last-of-summer Thursday weather (50degF at start; 66degF at end with virtually no wind) and we basically meandered around the route, with long stops at several areas. Highlights included first-of-season FOX and GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS; HAIRY WOODPECKER and RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER (immature and adult of the latter side-by-side for comparison) at the edge of the Dupont housing area; a lone OSPREY overhead near the same spot; RED CROSSBILLS; late swallows (VIOLET-GREEN and too-far-up-to-be-identified-as-to-species); two bright male WOOD DUCKS at Hodge Lake; and a vocalizing HUTTON'S VIREO. All in all a fine day wandering around the Eagles Pride Golf Course.



The JBLM Eagles Pride GC birders meet the third Thursday of each month at 8:00AM. Starting point is Bldg # 1514, Driving Range Tee, Eagles Pride Golf Course, I-5 Exit 116, Mounts Road Exit. Upcoming walks include the following:
