Washington State has three Vaux's Swift communal roost sites that are PIF Important Bird Areas of Global Significance. We've been keeping track of the swifts at these roosts almost every night of migration for the last 11 years.
Last year our first swift arrivals were….
JBLM -4/24
Selleck - 4/19
Monroe Wagner - 4/12
So far this year
JBLM - 4/14
Selleck - 4/15 as in last night (5)
Monroe Wagner - not yet
Our project currently has openings for Monroe observers on Thursdays, Fridays, and back ups. Applicants need to be able to count to 30,000.
