Decided to take a drive to Cle Elum RR Ponds and on the way stopped at Stampeded Pass exist. As soon as the car stopped, a flycatcher and MacGillivray's warbler stood out on either side of the road. The warbler foraged on the grass at roadside above the pond before flying across into the skunk cabbage.
A hairy woodpecker called and appeared on the river side of the side. Another empid called - sounded like a dusky.
The roadside empid perched low by the road and I managed to get a poor photo - it has a short bill that appears black above and mostly black below; it also looks straight sided to me; primary projection - med or long? Aack. Could use help id'g this one - photo at

At the railroad ponds, it was very active. A MacGillivray's and several Nashville warblers were highlights.
Also 2 orange crowned warblers closer to the hatchery; northern rough winged swallows by the interpretive signs; a singing stunning common yellowthroat.
Watched a house wren going in and out of a cavity; northern rough winged swallows, a red-breasted nuthatch made an appearance as well. Also, Barrow's goldeneye, ring-necked ducks, buffleheads, common mergansers and Canada geese on a nest.
Feel free to email directly on the empid.
Thanks and happy spring birding!
