Today we birded at Robin Hill Farm County Park in Sequim. In a period of 2 hours over a distance of 3 miles we counted 7 Red-breasted Nuthatches. I am absolutely certain that we didn't double count. We had a group of three where we parked. The walk was a loop. In addition to the original 3 we had 2, 1 and 1 well spaced throughout the loop. Karen's hearing seems to be especially tuned to hearing Nuthatches. I tease her if we bird somewhere and she hasn't heard a Nuthatch. Eventually we either see the Nuthatch or I hear it after Karen saying "I hear a Nuthatch!"

I just noticed in looking back on photos and sketches that I have not seen any nuthatches this year. Anyone else noticed this?
