Hello All,
Although this is an out-of-state report, I wanted to share this with WA
birders so they could be on the lookout including in SE WA.
This morning, Charles Enlow and I observed White-winged Crossbill at
Woodward Campground (45°46'42.8"N 118°05'57.8"W) located at Tollgate on the
Weston-Elgin Hwy (Oregon 204) in the Oregon Blue Mountains. There were 10
immature plumaged birds located by call as they were feeding in Englemann
Spruce around campsite 8 and were watched for about 30 minutes.
Other birders relocated the crossbills this afternoon at the eastern edge
of the campground viewing from the lakeshore.
Looks like it might be a good year for this species in the PNW.
Good birding to all!
