This was one of the most non-birdy trips I've had to Table Mountain ... and yet the best trip!
Just before finding the Ptarmigan, a new life bird for me, I was watching a Mountain Goat race around the top of Table Mountain before it disappeared over the cliff toward Ptarmigan Ridge trail.

I've searched a dozen times on Ptarmigan Ridge and the general area for the elusive White-tailed Ptarmigan before. Today was my lucky day. I had the pleasure to sit in the midst of one adult female and four chicks for about an hour watching them eat flowers off 'heather'? take dust baths, nap, stretch, cuddle up to mom and just wanter around.
