Good morning,
On my way out of town for a songbird research position up in BC, I quickly stopped at Lake Sammamish State Park to see the continuing Franklin's gull at Sunset Beach. I found it resting on the sand with the gull flock, but then I saw a second Franklin's gull standing next to it!
The newcomer has a slightly duskier head than the previously continuing bird, with the black of the hood continuing in a slightly lighter shade down the nape. Both birds are curious youngsters and not that shy! I got a couple great photos.
Good birding, Joshua Glant
