Subject: [Tweeters] Semiahmoo Shorebirds

Hi Tweeters,
Huge numbers of Black-bellied Plovers have been seen almost daily for the last two weeks at Semiahmoo Spit in Blaine. Today I estimated 2,500. I also found a Pacific Golden-plover, at least three Red Knots, a Dunlin, and a Willet, along with other less surprising shorebirds.

At the museum parking lot, a winter-plumaged Franklin's Gull flew overhead before landing in Drayon Harbor!

In past years, the plovers have continued into mid-September; sometimes they are still around in early October. They're most reliable around high tide in the afternoon.

I'll post an eBird checklist tonight with photos of some of the above species.
