Greetings,

Well I've been hearing and seeing Merlin all summer on my bike commute
through the Ravenna/Bryant/Roosevelt 'hood, and tonight I finally got to
watch one "hunt".

Presumably, it was a youngster because the birds it kept "attacking"
where the same size if not bigger than itself.  It went after Stellars
Jays and Flickers, neither of whom were impressed or scared, judging by
how they kept landing right next to it.

The  Band Tailed Pigeons that like my platform feeder were certainly
startled, but they didn't really "flee" either.

I used an app with a call, that did bring the Merlin in close, so I'm
fairly certain of the ID.  But the app describes the Merlin as
"fierce".  I'm assuming that is a personality trait one has to develop.

Fun stuff.
