Hey Tweets!
Took a peek at the Cedar River Mouth today around 1, and found a pair of dowitchers - and I am lousy at separating them. I attempted the spots vs. bars thing, but that wasn't happening. I think the tertials were clean on one of them... but then again do I know what a tertial feather is?? :)
I'm doing my annual booster shot on shorebird identification and will go back out to look at them later if I can.
There are a few little sandy/muddy spots appearing - hopefully there will be more shorebirds to come this fall! I missed a Sanderling that was reported in the last week on eBird, and have otherwise just found a few least and westerns this month.
Happy birding,
Tim Brennan
