Gary Wiles and I birded South Bend to Bay Center today. The farm fields at Carruthers Slough south of Sound Bend produced flocks of shorebirds and a single SNOW GOOSE. Shorebirds seen were;
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER 18

SEMIPALMATED PLOVER 48
DUNLIN 1300
LEAST SANDPIPER 60

The farm fields and the Palix River along Dike Rd. at Bay Center were very productive. Here we had;
SNOW GOOSE  14
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE  11
EURASIAN WIGEON  4
AMERICAN WIGEON  2200
GREEN-WINGED TEAL  90
RED-BREASTED MERGANSER  14
HORNED GREBE  4
WESTERN GREBE  18
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER  180

SEMIPALMATED PLOVER  55
DUNLIN  250
LEAST SANDPIPER  32
RING-BILLED GULL 120
BALD EAGLE  1
AMERICAN KESTREL  1

In the small town of Bay Center we found a home with humming bird feeders, six in total all hanging together.
We counted 22 ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS at one time and there could have been more. Just an incredible sight for this species along the coast.
