I live on Camano Island on 5 acres, surrounded by an additional 51 acres of
forest. I have lived here for 19 years now. We have Varied (not
Variegated) Thrush year around. They have never, ever come to our suet,
and they have never, ever come to our black sunflower seed feeders, which
we supply year around. We do have a platform feeder which we put the
cheaper bird food on. They come to the platform feeder and also on the
ground around it. We put cheap bird seed on the platform and also spread
it on the ground around it. We hear the Varied Thrush in the forest around
our house year around in the early morning and in the evening, and 3 or 4
of them are at the platform feeder or on the ground, all through out the
day and evening, year around for most of the year, except perhaps in July
and August.
