It took 40 minutes of scanning, but I was able to pick out the Tufted Duck among the hundreds of Scaup in Columbia River just north of intersection of Dike and Whelan roads . . Same location as last year in Woodland Bottoms.  Only way I could ID it in huge flock at first was black back with perfect light from behind me through 40x scope.  Then if it turned...very small tuft.
Also many Sandhill Cranes in fields or flybys.
