Thank you Tweeters experts,

Many of you wrote to say that the sparrow I had in my yard
today was a Brewer's Sparrow. So I guess it wasn't a juvenile, it was just
it's usual very plain self. That also explains the small size. Easy to
find over in eastern Washington. Not so common here. I guess I should have
recognized it, but it never occurred to me.

Thanks again to all who immediately recognized it!
