My apologies for the late notice.

Report from Sunday, 6/16
Wanted to give a heads up about a (possible) male American Redstart that Kendrick and I heard at the Cle Elum Fish Hatchery in S. Cle Elum. This is the area beyond the Railroad Ponds, where there is a gate. If you drive into the gated area, over the river and further down the road, there is a parking lot (and restrooms) surrounded by some good habitat. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see the bird. I realize this report doesn't give it a positive ID, but we are very familiar with Am. Redstart. In fact, it sounded so distinctly different from the other birds we were hearing that I took immediate notice. We listened for several minutes hoping to get a visual, but no luck. It might be worth checking out if anyone happens to be in the area.

Other birds in the area: Gray Catbird, Yellow Warbler, Warbling Vireo, Nashville Warbler, MacGillivray's Warbler, Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-Pewee, Western Tanager, Bullock's Oriole, and Song Sparrow.

A mama Barrow's Goldeneye was in the ponds with seven fluffy little ones.

Across from the ponds, we had Pygmy Nuthatches, House Wren and N. Flicker.

The reliable Osprey was actively hunting and flying frequently to and from the nest.
