Tweeters,
This seems to be a good year for Eastern Kingbirds in western Washington.  This morning at 9:40, my wife Jan and I were walking on the southwest portion of the Toutle River sediment retention dam (in Cowlitz County) and had a pair of Eastern Kingbirds fly up and perch on the chain link fence near us.  We had good looks at them and were easily able to see their black faces and upper heads, white underparts, dark upperparts, and distinctive white tail band.  Ten minutes later, we saw them again perched together on and foraging from some of the many small snags in the pond along the bottom of the east side of the sediment dam.  They definitely seemed like a mated pair.
