We are in the early stages of planning a multi-generational trip to Costa
Rica over the Christmas holidays. It may end up being a hybrid trip, with
a few days tacked on at either end of the trip for Jim and me to do some
focused birding and the rest of the time for our small group (the youngest
will be 10 years old) to enjoy Costa Rica more broadly. We expect to be
there 10-12 days.

We've been to Costa Rica in April when we spent all of our time in the
interior (Rara Avis, La Selva, Arenal, and Monteverde). This time we will
want to spend time in forests but will also want to get to one of the
coasts.

If you have taken your family to Costa Rica, we'd love to hear what worked
well and if there were any lessons learned. Were there favorite
destinations? Fun activities that worked well for everyone?

I would be grateful for any suggestions you have for family-friendly lodges
that have trails and naturalists on staff.

We would also appreciate recommendations for Costa Rican birding guides.

Please reply offline. Thanks for your consideration.
