Hello everyone,

I though you might be interested to read about one of the most innovative
and inspirational conservation efforts I've ever had the pleasure to
research and write about: the combined USFWS and USGS effort to save the
whooping crane. This bird's population dropped to just 21 individuals,
where it hovered for a few decades, before rebounding to a current
population of around 800 birds. Not only was this conservation program a
success -- it pulled the species back from extinction -- but it also
pioneered a number of innovations that are in use today for conserving
other endangered species.
