Hey Tweets....a couple of friends and I drove the beach in Ocean Shoes
and Ocean City today to observe the spring migration and boy what a
show! The Semipalmated Plovers arrived (overnight?) and we made a really
good effort at counting them....we figured 2500-3500 birds at least! It
was more plovers than any of us had ever seen before. We began at the
south end of town, driving out at Ocean Lake Way access but didn't
really run into the masses of birds until we re-entered the beach at
Damon Rd./The Best Western Lighthouse. From there north to Ocean City
was one large group of mixed shorebirds after another...lots of Westerns
and Dunlin. lots of semipalms, and many Marbled Godwits.

Also, I spoke to the registrar for the shorebird festival and she tells
me we have pretty much sold out of the keynote speaker tickets; it's a
smaller venue at the middle school auditorium and she only had a few
tickets left. Thank you Noah Stryker!
