 Dear Tweeters,
Today (Memorial Day 2019) there was a singing YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT at Green Road Pond in Skagit County. This is on the Butler Flats, at the north end of Green Road. This bird crosses Kelleher Road often, singing from perches in the Skagit County gravel pit, as well as along the ditch that runs between Kelleher Road and Green Road Pond.
Yesterday I saw a lone duckling at Barnaby Slough. This duckling was all alone, with no adult ducks or geese anywhere around. It whistled, making me thing that there was an Osprey around. I took a few photos as this baby duck swam across the George Harrison Rearing Pond to get away from me. If anyone can venture an identification, that would be great. The photos are on my eBird checklist.
A few other birds today included a Common Loon at Jensen Access, a flock of 29 American White Pelicans there, as well as two Whimbrel. Hayton Reserve was quiet, what with the tides being what they are, I reckon.
Yours truly,
Gary Bletsch
