Hello all,

With the Walla Walla Valley in dense fog today we headed for the
mountains and into the sunshine - up Jasper for a nice hike then up Dent
Rd. Found our county lifer WHITE-HEADED WOODPECKER - a female. Also
found 8 PYGMY NUTHATCHES - this has been an invasion year for this
species - southern Blue Mountain species that have come north for some
reason.

At the same time Ginger and Rodger Shoemake spotted a RED-SHOULDERED
HAWK in Walla Walla - 3rd record for county.

Red Crossbills and Cassin's Finches have disappeared from our mountains
again - but Evening Grosbeaks are around.

Fun Veterans Day birding, M&ML
