Yesterday was another stellar day of birding on Fir Island. Early morning at Hayton Reserve produced a FRANKLIN'S GULL & 9 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE. Also, my earliest fall TUNDRA SWANS by several days. There was 1 adult and 4 juvs. I first spotted them in the main pond. They then flew and landed deep in the smaller pond to the north.

I could not find the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper again at Hayton, but in the afternoon I did see an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN, a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER with several BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS. A close look showed very short wing extension as well as golden color on body and face. Nine WHITE-FACED IBIS foraged in the main pond for a few minutes before taking flight and heading west.

In the late PM, the 6 ibis flew low overhead while at the Game Range. Hopefully, they'll stay in the area for a few days. Also, the SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER showed up again on a floating log at the Game Range.
