Dear Tweeters,
Mike Nelson asked me to let Tweeters know that he personally viewed the hunter's photo of an Emperor Goose that was seen on the weekend of October 5-6 on Fir Island. I don't remember what date the bird was seen by the hunters that weekend, but Mike said that the photo clearly showed an Emperor Goose, and not some other species. I don't think that Mike knows the name of the hunter or of his companion; I think Mike said that two men observed this goose, I think at Jensen Access.
I know someone who knows Maynard Axelson, and asked her to ask Maynard whether he is missing any Emperor Geese, since his waterfowl collection on Fir Island is a possible source of an escapee.
No birders were able to find the bird.
Yours truly,
Gary Bletsch
