A Townsend's Solitaire seen today near the access road to Coldwater Lake (Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Reserve).  The access road is closed for now as is the Castle Lake Viewpoint.

Had seven eagles in the air at once over Silver Lake as viewed from Canal Road.  One mature Bald Eagle , two immature Bald Eagles (white markings on the under wings and bodies, two that went unidentified because I found something that interested me more.  Had a male and female Golden Eagle.  The male had love on his mind and was pursuing the female. The difference in size was apparent.  Neither bird showed any white on their undersides.  The difference was apparent with the immature Bald Eagles nearby. The supposed striping on the tail not apparent.  I believe I saw the golden nape on the male during one of his maneuvers to mate (unsuccessful).

Interestingly, a week or two ago a Weyerhaeuser woodlands security person told me of a Golden Eagle that he had seen on Weyerhaeuser land feeding on a carcass dumped by some hunters.  He did not give a time frame for his sighting.
