Long-billed Curlews Returning to BC

Hi all,

While we at Birds Canada are disappointed not to be able to get out into the field this season, our work to monitor and conserve birds continues. One example is our remote sensing projects which include Long-billed Curlew tracking in British Columbia (project summary here). After all spending the winter in California, they are returning to BC and one male (named Ivan) is now on Whidbey Island, just north of Seattle! It is hard to know where it will go from there, but birders on Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and the lower mainland should keep their eyes out (where public access is still allowed)! Ivan will have a satellite transmitter on his back, and leg flag KY on his left leg.
